How To Save Money When Throwing a Baby Shower
Are you looking to throw a baby shower, but money is an issue? With the tough economy and credit crisis that everyone in the world seems to be going through, this seems to be the case with everyone nowadays. Everyone is looking for ways to save money and still have a great celebration. I would like to share some of my favorite ideas for cost savings with you and help you to plan a great baby shower at little cost.

One of the best items to save money on is the food that you serve at the baby shower. The best way to do this is to schedule to baby shower during non meal times, such as in the middle of the afternoon.  Instead of serving a catered hot meal, a great way to save is to serve finger foods and other appetizers appetizers. This can save you hundreds of dollars and a lot of stress that comes with the planning a meal for the whole guest list.

The second idea that can save a lot of money is the location of the baby shower. This in a large part depends on the amount of guests that you expect to attend. If your baby shower is going to be on the smaller side then a private residence is the best way to save money. This will require more preparation than having the baby shower at a restaurant or a banquet facility. You will need to be sure that you have enough seating for your guests and enough space for everyone to interact comfortably.

The third idea is to have plenty of games for your guests to play. This will keep your guests busy having fun and help your baby shower to move along at a great pace.

If you wish to give your guests party favors, door gifts, or game prizes there are many ways to provide these items and have them appear as if they are professionally made. Abc Favors offers many favors and gifts for the host that it is interested in do-it-yourself items. You can choose from many hang tags and personalized labels and bottle wrappers that are a great accent to any baby shower.

Baby Showers During The Holidays...Should You Have One?
The question always arises about mixing holiday parties with baby showers and bridal showers / weddings.  Here are some tips on planning a christmas baby shower.

1.  Family is all together during the holidays.
Since a lot of families now live far away from each other, it really does make sense to arrange to hold your baby shower during the time of year when everyone is in town.  If you decide to have your shower during the holidays, keep a few things in mind while planning.  The folks who are flying/driving/skiing in may only be in town for a couple of days.  So, you will want to try and coordinate the day and time months ahead of time.

2.  Be careful not to overwhelm the hostess
If your mother or sister or friend is hosting a holiday party during the same timeframe, please do not expect that person to host your baby shower.  It may seem simple enough (since you are cleaning/cooking for your party, do it for my shower too - two stones at once kind of thing) it really is not.   She may desperately want to host your party, but the timing of it may be just too overwhelming.  So, be very sensitive to your friends/family if they choose not to step up and be the host.  If she wants to help out, then definitely let her.  It'll make everyone feel good and take the full weight of the party off of one person's shoulders.

3.  Holiday baby shower theme
A baby shower during the holidays can bring about some fun and different themes that you normally couldn't get away with during April, June or August.  You can decorate with little baby stockings and give away little baby christmas trees for your baby shower favors.  The food can be just as jolly!  Have fun with this time of the year and take advantage of all the cool decorations out there.

4.  Other holiday party conflicts
Be aware that people tend to have company parties and neighborhood parties to attend during this time of the year.  So, you may want to plan your baby shower or bridal shower on a day that is not normally a 'party day'.  Try to avoid weekends.

5.  Combine your holiday party and your baby shower.
To do this, everyone would have to be in agreement.  Some folks might feel that the two parties should be kept seperate, and that is understandable.  So, keep hormones in check, smile and say you understand.  Another day can work.

There are really no stringent and set rules on the appropriateness of holiday baby showers.  It really depends on your family and friends and what you want to do.  This is a party, afterall, that is centered around you.  You want it to be a special day without conflict and issues.  So, plan far ahead and feel out the water with your friends before commiting to a holiday baby shower.

Help Small Business By Keeping Your Baby Shower "Made In The USA"

Sure, you'll find several baby shower favors and decorations that are too-cute and some are "must-have's", but when buying for your baby shower, try to stay USA focused.  Thousands of jobs are eliminated each day, along with many small businesses (and large).

So, you are saying "Yes, I know all of this.  It's been major news for months. What are you getting at"?   By simply buying items made domestically, you have the power to save jobs and companies.  For example, you'll find a lot of wedding favors and baby shower favors that are made in China factories.  But, then again, you can find personalized and really awesome favors that are made here in the heart of our country.

Something as simple as finding supplies for your party made in the USA can help our economy.  Yep - what you do impacts other families.  It really does.  Lets reflect....
